--------------------------- Creating With Light --------------------------------
The Exhibition
Between March 19th and April 20th this year I held the first exhibition of my work
at the Harlow Central Library, showcasing 30 images which I had created over the
past year using LightWave 3D software. The exhibition was very successful, gained
many kind comments and I even sold several images!
Amiga-promotion was also in force!! I had a lot of people coming up to me and
asking about the Amiga, the software and why I used one. Hopefully I turned some
prospective buyers away from the Dark Side.
All of the images were printed out A4 size using TurboPrint with a Cannon BJC-620
printer on photoglossy paper, and then framed.
--------------------------------- The Images -------------------------------------
Insects
These images of Dragonflies and Butterflies are some of my favourite images. The
image "ChaseOverWater" is one of my all-time favourite renders, and took over ten
hours with full tracing, reflection and refraction turned on.
Fish
Bright and colourful, these fish are all 'real' fish and they each required extensive
texture mapping. Each fish has about 5-6 texture maps created using Photogenics
software.
Space
Version 3 of my Runabout Uss Ganges model on display here, with updated textures,
lighting and a little polygon-reshaping. This is one of my most complicated models
and although it only weighs in at around 20,000 polys it has about 15 colour maps,
each with its own diffusion and bump versions. (hehe, that's nothing compared to
the 1.4 million poly mark for a model I'm building for 2260 Designs (saying thatas
if 1.4 million polygons wasn't such a big number :) )
The Uss Pathfinder is one of those "what if.." designs which I based on a picture
in the DS9 Tech manual. Sort of a Defiant crossed with the Enterprise-E type craft.
As they say to the Borg, "Assimilate THIS!.."
Other
"FutureSub" is a pic of er, a futuristic submarine. "Waggon" is a peaceful into-the-sunset
type image. "TDZCity" is a still from the intro-sequence for the game The Dark Zone,
which I am working on. Hi to everyone at Vivid Imagination!!!
